In 2010, George joined the CAM team as Head of South African Portfolios. He started his financial market career in the capital market in 1988, specialising in derivatives. This led him into the world of structured products. After visiting various trading floors in the United States George became a member of the JSE and launched his career as a proprietary trader. He then went back into banking as an arbitrageur and risk manager. In 2003, George joined the Eskom Pension Fund, where as Chief Dealer and Investment Manager he handled asset allocation, manager selection, tactical overlays and index tracking. George has experience as a banker, stock broker and fund manager. He represents Citadel on the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA) Investment Board and Fixed Income Standing Committees.

Geoff took on the role of Head of Cannon Private Clients after a joint venture between Cannon and Citadel in 2014. After completing his degree, he lectured corporate finance in Wits University's Business Economics department. He subsequently worked as an equity dealer at Societe Generale Frankel Pollak (the precursor to SG Securities and later Sasfin Securities). He moved on to become a private-client portfolio manager at SGFP. Geoff then joined BoE Private Bank as a portfolio manager and, in 1999, moved to the Investment Solutions investment team, where he developed and headed their manager research team. Over the next 10 years, Investment Solutions’ assets under management grew from R4 billion to R180 billion to become the largest multi-manager in South Africa. In 2008 Geoff joined Cannon as Managing Director.

Harold joined Citadel in 2006. He is responsible for asset modelling, portfolio optimisation and Houseview implementation. He also co-manages Citadel’s range of property solutions and the SA Yield Portfolio. Prior to joining Citadel, he worked as a business analyst at an internet marketing company. Harold obtained a BCom (Actuarial Science) degree from Stellenbosch University in 2005 and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Maarten joined Citadel in October 2003 and is part of the advisory and asset management teams. He is responsible for global and local economic strategy and global portfolio construction, and manages the Citadel range of Global Objective Matching Portfolios. Maarten is an advisor to a number of Citadel’s ultra-high net worth clients. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments in Londonand a faculty member at the University of Stellenbosch Business School - Executive Development. Maarten holds a Masters degree in Econometrics from the University of Pretoria, and lectured at the University of Pretoria and the University Stellenbosch before joining the Bureau for Economic Research in 1998, where he focused on macro-econometric forecasting. Prior to joining Citadel he was a portfolio manager at Peregrine Quant from 1999 to 2003.

MIKE VAN DER WESTHUIZEN

Mike joined Citadel in 2011 and was initially responsible for the researching and monitoring of South African underlying funds and strategies as part of the CAM Fund Research Team. From there, his focus and passion drew him towards local and global fixed income related fund research. He is now part of the team that manages Citadel’s in-house fixed income, property and alternative beta equity strategies. He focuses on all aspects of portfolio management, from research and idea generation, through to implementation and portfolio optimisation, risk management and trading.

Vanessa joined Citadel in January 2011 as a portfolio manager. She began her career as a founding member of the original team that left Syfrets Managed Assets to start Coronation Fund Managers in 1993. During her 12 years at Coronation, she was responsible for the portfolio management of both domestic institutional portfolios and unit trusts, including the High Growth Fund, the Small Cap Fund and the Balanced Fund. Vanessa was also a Non-Executive Director of Women’s Investment Portfolio Holdings Limited. She moved to Investec in September 2005 as Head of Growth Equity Portfolios. From 2006 to 2010, Vanessa was the Portfolio Manager of Domestic Institutional Growth Equity Portfolios and the Investec Growth Fund.

Wynand joined the CAM team in September 2012. He is responsible for the COS 20/20 Equity Portfolio in-house, which he previously managed at Huysamer Capital Investments in the position of Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director. Wynand also manages the COS Global Greats Portfolio and the Peregrine Global Equity Fund. His career began with 10 years as a project engineer at Iscor and Sasol, followed by six years with Senekal, Mouton and Kitshoff as an industrial equity analyst. He became a director in 1990, and in 1997 he joined the Absa group as a portfolio manager, where he managed R3.3 billion in trust money, the Absa International and Absa Rand Protector Unit Trusts. He was appointed as the Chief Investment Officer of Absa Asset Management in 1999, with R15 billion in assets under management. At Abvest, a subsidiary of Absa with strong BEE credentials, he held the position of Investment Strategist as well as Portfolio Manager of Life Insurance Funds.

Yolanda joined Citadel in 1998 and in 2010 she became the Head of Fund Research. At the start of her career she lectured in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Johannesburg. She then joined Gold Fields Limited, South Africa, as an economist in 1997, where she researched the South African economy and world metals markets.

Devin joined Citadel Asset Management in 2016 as a Junior Investment Analyst, covering hedge fund research and monitoring. Devin completed his BCom Honours in finance and investments at The University of the Western Cape in 2015 and is currently enrolled in the CFA programme.
Kate joined Citadel in 2000. She is a Senior Investment Analyst in Citadel’s CAM team. Her specific responsibilities lie within the long-only fund manager research and selection process. Prior to joining Citadel she was a member of the research team at NIB International in London.

Lisa joined Citadel in July 2009 to set up and run the operational due diligence research function. After completing her BCom degree in accounting she joined the investment management group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Dublin, Ireland in 2003. In 2007 she transferred to the risk advisory group. While at PwC, Lisa qualified as a Chartered Accountant and joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. She returned to Cape Town in December 2008 and joined Deloitte Risk Advisory before moving to Citadel. Lisa has extensive experience in analysing the risks and operational controls of asset managers, administrators and transfer agents.

Mishka joined Citadel in October 2016 as a Junior Investment Analyst. She has a BBusSc in finance and accounting, and a BCom Hons in taxation, both from UCT, and is currently enrolled in the CFA programme. Mishka started working at Prescient in a junior settlement officer role in October 2015, involved with the settlement of fixed income instruments and equity trades.

“Sino” joined the CAM team in February 2016 as an administrator (fund fact sheets). Previously she worked at Glacier in the capacity of client service consultant in their operations team, a position she held since October 2013. Prior to that she worked as a sales administrator with the Longain Group and a campaign agent with Fusion Outsourcing Services.

Nishlen joined Citadel in 2013 as a Hedge Fund Analyst. He completed his BBusSc Finance Honours at UCT in 2011 and is currently enrolled in the CFA programme. He previously worked for Allan Gray as a consultant within the retail client space. Nishlen’s focus is on investments and value creation.
VICTOR VON REICHE
Victor joined Citadel following a joint venture between Cannon and Citadel in 2014. Victor has experience in the field of environmental engineering, having worked in the industry for a total of seven years before embarking on a career in financial markets at Cannon Asset Managers in 2013 as an investment analyst. His current duties include research, stock selection, implementation and portfolio management across a range of domestic and global equity portfolios.

Tlotliso joined Citadel in 2016 as a research analyst, having launched his financial services career as an intern at Sesfikile Capital. Then, in 2015, he moved to the Emira
Property Fund where his role included financial statement analysis, research into specific opportunities and operational reporting. Tlotliso is currently enrolled in the CFA programme.

Jaap joined Citadel in 2002 as a wealth manager. He is currently a portfolio manager and is responsible for Private Client Securities. Jaap started his career as a state advocate and attorney before moving into financial services. He previously worked for Old Mutual and Investec Private Bank.

Philip joined Citadel in 2002, following the completion of his articles in the financial services division of PwC. He was initially appointed as financial manager in Citadel’s product and administration division. Philip was part of the team responsible for the establishment of H4 Collective Investments, the collective investment scheme management company in the Peregrine Group in 2012/2013. He was appointed as managing director of H4 in February 2015 and he is currently a director of Citadel Administration Services and a trustee of the retirement funds which Citadel administers. Philip now heads up operations for the Private Client Securities portfolios.
After completing a BCom in finance and investments at the University of the Western
Cape, Lauren moved to Johannesburg where she joined the investment team at Cannon Asset Managers as a dealer. Her function as a dealer involved implementing global and domestic portfolios, building relations with brokers as well as keeping the investment team updated with relevant market activity. In January 2016 she joined Citadel as a trader.

Louisa joined the CAM team as a senior trader and has 15 years of market experience. Prior to joining Citadel she worked for a decade at Peregrine Equities Proprietary Limited on its private clients dealing desk.

Matthew joined Citadel as a trader in 2016. He started his career with Investment Data
Services (IDS) in 2013 as a market data administrator, performing back office services
and support to the hedge fund accountants. In 2015 Matthew moved into the middle
office department to work closely with fund managers. The role of the department was to perform fund accounting and valuation on fixed income funds administered by the firm, as well as various other middle office services. Matthew is currently enrolled in the CFA programme and has completed level 1.

Monique joined Citadel Online Securities in August 2012. She has over eight years of professional trading experience and began her career at Rand Merchant Bank’s treasury dealing desk trading currency. Her experience ranges from being a market maker in currency to trading shares and various indexes based on strategies formulated during her career. She heads up the International trading desk and is responsible for trading and managing Citadel’s International Equity Portfolios.
