Hanli Prinsloo

Hanli Prinsloo, a record-holding freediver and ocean activist, founded I AM WATER Ocean Conservation to connect people with the ocean. She coaches elite athletes and leads global initiatives like the OCEANS FOR ALL Alliance. Hanli also co-founded OCEAN TRAVEL and AGULHAS, promoting sustainable marine experiences. She is an Ashoka Fellow and lives inCape Town with her family.

Brett Thompson

Brett Thompson is the co-founder and CEO of Newform Foods, Africa’s first cultivated meat company. He also co-created Discourse ZA and co-founded the Credence Institute. With a background in finance and economics from the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, Brett has spent over a decade advancing alternative proteins and animal advocacy in South Africa and Germany. Passionate about transforming food systems, he explores how innovation can create a future of food abundance – benefiting both people and animals.

Joubert Roux

Joubert Roux is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the transportation sector, having established a network of service stations and car dealerships across the Cape provinces. He spent a decade in civil engineering with Grinaker-LTA, managing large-scale construction projects. Since 2011, he has been active in renewable energy, developing wind and solar projects under the REIPP programme. Joubert also has farming interests along the Olifants River and has supported micro-vineyard and winery initiatives in disadvantaged communities. He founded 1st Principles Distillery, one of South Africa’s few solar-powered distilleries.

Andrew Middleton

Andrew Middleton is the CEO and co-founder of GoSolr, a South African solar subscription company focused on making clean energy more accessible. After spending 14 years in investment banking, he transitioned into entrepreneurship in 2021. A graduate of the University of Cape Town, Andrew believes in decentralised leadership and empowering teams to take ownership. His proudest professional milestone is co-founding GoSolr, which is helping reshape the country’s energy landscape. He is passionate about building sustainable solutions, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and contributing to a more equitable future for South Africa through innovation and inclusive business practices.

Maarten Ackerman

Maarten Ackerman is Citadel’s Chief Economist and Advisory Partner. He leads macroeconomic analysis and advises ultra-high net worth clients. With a master’s in Econometrics from the University of Pretoria, he has lectured at top universities and worked at the Bureau for Economic Research and Peregrine Quant. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
